Here at the Mandrem Shooting Ranges, during the current 37th National Games, Mehuli Ghosh of West Bengal was able to win the women’s 10m air rifle event. Her two main strategies were using bananas for energy and maintaining a steady shooting throughout the 24-shot final.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-273889″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/theindiaprint.com-defiant-mehuli-ghosh-wins-the-gold-medal-in-the-10m-air-rifle-at-the-37th-national-1-750×500.jpg” alt=”theindiaprint.com defiant mehuli ghosh wins the gold medal in the 10m air rifle at the 37th national 1″ width=”1256″ height=”837″ title=”Defiant Mehuli Ghosh wins the gold medal in the 10m air rifle at the 37th National Games 6″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/theindiaprint.com-defiant-mehuli-ghosh-wins-the-gold-medal-in-the-10m-air-rifle-at-the-37th-national-1-750×500.jpg 750w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/theindiaprint.com-defiant-mehuli-ghosh-wins-the-gold-medal-in-the-10m-air-rifle-at-the-37th-national-1-1024×683.jpg 1024w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/theindiaprint.com-defiant-mehuli-ghosh-wins-the-gold-medal-in-the-10m-air-rifle-at-the-37th-national-1-768×512.jpg 768w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/theindiaprint.com-defiant-mehuli-ghosh-wins-the-gold-medal-in-the-10m-air-rifle-at-the-37th-national-1-150×100.jpg 150w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/theindiaprint.com-defiant-mehuli-ghosh-wins-the-gold-medal-in-the-10m-air-rifle-at-the-37th-national-1.jpg 1200w” sizes=”(max-width: 1256px) 100vw, 1256px” />

“Here in Goa, I had intended to win gold. “I am happy that I was able to accomplish my objective,” said the thrilled West Bengal rifle shooter.

Mehuli’s performance graph at Mandrem Ranges on Tuesday was very consistent. She led the qualifying list with a score of 633.1.

She only ate bananas to refuel because there wasn’t much of a time difference between the final and the qualification round. She then launched her gold medal campaign with a very steady score of 53.3 points in the first five shots to finish ahead of her competitors, Nancy of Haryana and Swati Chowdhary of West Bengal.

Mehuli remained composed and reinforced her hold on the gold medal despite her opponents’ attempts to exert pressure on her.

Mehuli won gold in the final with a score of 253.7, while Nancy of Haryana took home silver with 251.0. With a score of 229.4 points, West Bengal’s Swati Chowdhary defeated Odisha’s Shriyanka Sadangi to take home bronze.

Mehuli, one of the 13 shooters who secured a spot in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, intends to further refine her skills in the finals before the main competition in 2024.

Mehuli said that her goal going forward is to shoot steadily in the championship game.

The skilled rifle shooter from West Bengal claims she suffered a great deal as a result of a mistake during the medal round of the Asian Games in Hangzhou.

“It was crucial for me to achieve a high score in this final,” she said. “I made a mistake in the Asian Games finals in Hangzhou, which prevented me from winning an individual medal.”

Mehuli Ghosh is psychologically ready for her busy schedule that lies ahead. On November 18, she will participate in the Doha World Cup Finals. She will participate in the National Shooting Championships in Delhi’s Karni Singh Shooting Ranges during the third week of November, just after the tournament in Doha. She is scheduled to participate in the national selection trials in December.

“I want to concentrate on maintaining consistent scores in the final,” she said. “My other two main areas of attention are becoming healthier and getting fitter so that in 2024 I can deliver the goods on schedule.
